The Underworld5 collections
Underworld Companions is a non-fungible token (NFT) collection of up to 10,000 tokens issued on the Cosmos Hub by The Underworld, a Cosmos-ecosystem NFT project. Presented as pets or familiars accompanying the reapers of the project's founding collection, Underworld Necropolis, the Companions are positioned by their creators as an introduction to decentralised finance, carrying rewards and periodic distributions to holders.
The collection is a companion set in the structural sense as well as the thematic one: its principal function is to feed the mechanics of the project's NecroVault application, where Companions can be consumed and where holding them affects a holder's standing.
Design and function
Individual tokens are titled "Companion" and depicted as underworld pets. Project material describes them as more than decorative, promising rewards and what it terms digital goodies as holders engage further with DeFi and NFT mechanics.
Within the wider Underworld ecosystem, Companions interact with several NecroVault features. The Altar of Sacrifice allows Companions to be permanently consumed in exchange for benefits, and a "Companion" trait appears in the project's rarity and reward systems. Because sacrifice destroys the token, the collection is subject to ongoing attrition by design.
Minting
Underworld Companions was still minting on the Stargaze launchpad as of mid-2026, alongside the project's Underworld Genesis collection. Market data implies roughly 8,100 tokens in circulation against the 10,000 maximum, indicating the mint was substantially but not fully subscribed at the time of measurement.
Reception
Stargaze's weekly top-volume rankings during 2026 have listed Underworld Companions separately from Underworld Necropolis, with both collections appearing among the platform's leading collections by volume in the same week — an unusual showing for two collections from a single project.
