Rorschach Doodles is a collection that came about by chance, brushstrokes of colour scattered across a pile of 41 small sheets of raw cotton paper waiting for an idea. Flowers, landscapes, people. Each painting, something different.

But why Rorschach doodles?

The name of the collection refers to the famous Rorschach test. The Rorschach test uses inkblots to assess people’s inner thoughts and feelings. I didn't have such ambitions in my case. I just casually arranged some colors in stripes, waves, cubes, blotches or what else and, after leaving the stained paper on the desk for a day or two, I came back to check if I could see any image and drew or painted them.

Some radial brushstrokes, for example, provided the inspiration for a flamenco dancer.

Thanks to very few ink traits, a red and violet stain revealed a couple who reminded me of Howl and Sophie, from Howl’s Moving Castle. On second thoughts, however, it could have been also a group of beavers in salopettes but, alas, the the couple won.
