Colonial Cats

Colonial Cats is the genesis collection of GATA HUB.

Launched in the early days of the Cosmos NFT ecosystem, Colonial Cats marked the beginning of GATA's journey into NFTs, community ownership, and what would eventually become our broader NFTfi and infrastructure ecosystem.

The collection introduced the first GATA characters: a group of cats representing different personalities and roles inspired by the age of exploration. The original concept imagined crypto as a new, largely uncharted territory—full of opportunity, risk, competition, and discovery.

Five character archetypes make up the collection:

Farmer γάτα — patient, hardworking, and focused on growth.
Merchant γάτα — disciplined, strategic, and always looking for opportunity.
Soldier γάτα — loyal, resilient, and ready to defend the frontier.
Spy γάτα — observant, secretive, and always a step ahead.
King γάτα — ambitious, powerful, and looking toward new territories.

The collection's rarity also reflects an important part of its original design: the Farmer γάτα is among the rarest characters, while the King γάτα is less scarce. Rarity was not simply tied to status, giving the collection its own playful take on traditional hierarchies.

But Colonial Cats became more than its artwork.

For GATA, it was the starting point of an experiment: could an NFT community become part of something larger than a collection?

That question eventually led GATA into validator operations, community governance, NFTfi, yield-generating NFTs, IBC infrastructure, and a growing range of Web3 initiatives.

Colonial Cats remains the foundation of that journey.
